It would have been more interesting if it included Ayn Rand's philosophy of 'objectivism' in the mix to compare ( not that I'm a follower, but her observations of the destructive nature of socialism/communism were very much on point).
Most of what Marx and Engels said should be discredited given their ideology has failed everywhere and everytime.

Let's narrow it down. Not all Democrats are bad. Not all Liberals are bad. The problem is hard Leftists. Hard Leftists are giving Democrats and Liberals a bad name and they are allowing it to happen. So I'm going to assume you mean hard Leftists when you say the Left. That being said, not only could the Left learn a lot from Right Wing thinkers, actually learning to think would be a step in the right direction.

Without a clear definition of "left", it's difficult to even begin to isolate where "the left" has gone wrong.
Noam Chomsky has been quite clear about where the mainstream left has gone wrong, and I tend to think that he is spot on when he says that the Democrats abandoned the working class more than 40 years ago. And what we have seen with the rise of Trump (and Trumpism isn't going away any time soon) is just one of the outcomes of that.
