There is most definitely a double standard between FOX news and Trevor Noah: political cause, and target audience. It's extremely predictable how they cover protests in regards to police, depending on who's protesting.

BLM/ Antifa Protests
-----> FOX: America is 100% not a racist country, every cop shooting is justified, BLM/ Antifa are a terrorist organization, and blue lives matter. They use instances of cops being injured and killed as justification for demonizing and delegitimizing the BLM protests.
-----> Trevor Noah: America is 100% systemically racist, every cop shooting is racist and not justified, BLM/ Antifa are justified in their methods of protest and activism, and there's no such thing as "blue" lives. He down plays instances of cops being injured and killed as either by people not related to BLM, or as it being the cops fault for guarding statues and property instead of protecting black lives.

MAGA/ Lockdown Protests
-----> FOX: Lockdowns are an infringement on American rights as well as hurts our economy, protests are justified and encouraged, cops are either mindless "just following orders" types, or they don't really want to arrest lockdown protesters because they are on "our side".
-----> Trevor Noah: Lockdown protests are superspreader events (unlike BLM which is are not superspreader events), lockdowns save lives, lives are more important than the economy, they all believe in conspiracy theories and are unintelligent or misinformed. He also likes throwing race into the mix if at all possible. So, it's not entirely surprising that he'd use that angle when delivering his take on the bar owner vs cop.

Personally, I think there are legitimate grievances on both sides. The cops are doing their jobs by enforcing law and order. I don't condone violence against cops regardless of how good a cause someone's protesting for.

I gotta say, though, I've seen a lot more violence against cops from the BLM/ Antifa crowd than the Lockdown protesters. So, I'm not seeing how this is an example of white privilege in America. It just seems like a very narrow perspective on a much bigger picture. Which is something I've come to expect from all news sources, even the more entertainment type shows.

The group I continue to feel bad for are the police. They've been batted around all ends of the political scale this year. They've gone from being a part of the initial COVID first responders team, to racisist and murderers, to being all seen as Trump supporters, and back again to "just trying to maintain law and order" with lockdown protesters. It's crazy.

The one thing media on both sides keep neglecting to articulate is that law and order isn't partisan. They aren't the "bad guys" for only one group of people and the "good guys" for the other group of people. I have friends and family who are military, coast guard, emergency workers, and police. They all have differing personal points of view, but they serve all Americans. I think it does a disservice to our country to keep trying to box them all up in the same group.
