Did the police brutalize her hair?

I know this will be hated by many and easily attacked, but if you don’t like it, you’re free to ignore it, attack it or just be a victim and feel sort for yourself because the bad man said something that “made” me feel bad.

Why can’t these white cops just snap their fingers and pause an attack and then “de-escalate”? If you don’t want law enforcement to come and enforce the law to the best of their ability, understanding that they are not magical or all-powerful beings, why do you call on them to “get some cops out here, she got a knife and she gonna stab us”.

Here’s another idea, how about you start teaching your children not to stab other people or rob them or burn their homes/businesses, etc... Or when you have “the talk”, maybe instead of saying, you are and will always be a victim with a target on your back because you’re black, so all white people are the enemies and all cops are the enemies”, you could teach personal responsibility and yes, the world is an unfair place, but you can take more control of a situations when you take responsibility for your own actions and when you are more concerned with what you could do to improve the outcome of any situation.

I grew up in poverty in some pretty unsafe neighborhoods that had both black and white families. In one “project” neighborhoods didn’t go outside alone much of ever. We were young enough to not judge others by the color of their skin, but by the way they acted toward us and others. Mom tried to maintain a semblance of pride as a waitress, by bringing home only the touches leftovers off people’s plates and telling the other wait staff that it was for the pets. (Sometimes they scraped half rated stuff on top of the quality food, but we could just scrape it off and cook it a little more.) Being home with no adult supervision was a little scary, but we knew how to call the cops and we could also call Mom if necessary. It wasn’t ideal, but that’s life and we were humbled yet stronger because of it. That paid off.

I have “beaten” (verbally) this idea into my children and they have gained immensely from it. They (and I) now teach their children to take responsibility for their own actions and to understand they have to accept responsibility for the things they could do better and focus less on how somebody else was unfair to them and “victimized” them.

Yes, my children are mixed race as are their children. They were usually seen by others (in the mostly Black high school they attended) as victims and were often encouraged to see themselves as victims, but that served no purpose other than to try to lock them in the slavery of low expectations and victimhood. God never promised that everything would be easy or even fair, only that He sees and He’ll be with us and will recompense. It’s not a panacea for all life’s difficulties, but it beats the victim culture every time.
