Unfortunately, the American military has a way of dealing with men who speak out against malfeasance and cowardice perpetrated by senior ranking officers and civilian leadership. It’s called a court martial under article 134 and article 117 (and others) along with dishonorable discharges.
He will likely be summarily drummed out of the military with no benefits (given a dishonorable discharge). He could even serve time before he is drummed out, but that is unlikely as they will be more interested in seeing this all go away along with him.
The executive branch and the legislative branch have worked very hard over the past 3 decades to neuter real leaders within the military’s senior officers and to turn the military into an arena for all their latest social experiments. Once you reach the rank of Lt Col, it becomes a game of whack-a-mole and officers that used to be hard charging instruments of success learn to shut up and hide until an opportune time to get promoted or, if they have a moral compass, they see the writing on the wall and leave. This is a generalization, but I watched it play out repeatedly for almost 3 decades.
There was even a saying about officers having their tongues removed when they became field grade officers and their brains removed when they reached the rank of Lt Col. It is only when they become a flag officers that they get their tongue back. I guess they are never allowed to think again though.
Peace time militaries are notoriously incompetent. The fall of the Soviet Union is shaping up to be a lot like the end of WWII. Instead of a peace dividend it has turned into a delusional period for the country. Just as there were many secretly sympathetic to Fascism during the thirties there are many sympathetic to China's new Fascism. Hopefully Taiwan will not be the next Pearl Harbor.
Globalism and corporatism are not new. The Roman Empire and British Empire, colonialism and the slave trade all centered around government and commercial interests being indistinguishable. Such arrangements are mutually corrupting.
