I don't think we are dealing here with a rebellious youth, hence I don't think what you suggested would make any difference. This is indoctrinated religious fanatic. Have you seen the previous attempts to deal with Jihadists and how that ended? I may be wrong about the pink haired kid and her cohort, but I see nothing is this act that suggests terror. They certainly inspire not the slightest terror or fear in me. Even if they damaged some of my own possessions but posed no threat to human life or health, their actions would evoke no fear in me. I understand their goal is to stop the use of fossil fuels which would cause great harm to human lives and health, but their actions in no way serve to bring us one step closer to that eventuality. In fact, their actions accomplish the exact opposite, mocking the very ignorance of those possessing such ideas.

As far as severe punishment to make an example of these foolish kids, I believe the second order effects would counter any good done by such a knee jerk reaction. Not only is there no way to sustain imprisonment for long periods of time everybody that does something stupid, you are lending credibility to a cause that deserves none nor do the hold any now. It is also likely that the severe punishment will calcify their ignorance and resentment and unlikely to reform them or win them over to true thought. When I was young, I was far more liberal and learned tone more conservative over time due to God’s grace and lessons in God’s word. This seems to be a trend amongst conservatives in the USA.

This is all just my own opinion; and opinions are much like anuses: everybody has one and most of them stink.

The act of her by itself does not suggest terror, the symbolism of the act does if you can read it. I'll give you an example that might explain what I mean.

This act of vandalizing Van Gogh, is the kind of symbol which if left uncheck will demand tomorrow that we genocide 7 billion people to save the planet. Kudos for your opinion. But look what they are doing to Jan 6th political prisoners, to Alex Jones, to Julian Assange and many others. If you think they would hesitate to do that to you or me or anyone , you should look at historic examples.
