The Left is naturally interested in the opportunity of harnessing an unutilized mechanism for telling the dumber half of the population what to think. So the most profitable media outlets were purchased by wealthy leftists. Those actual journalists who were more driven by integrity than sensationism or leftism increasingly found themselves in an adversarial environment, until by 1990, 87% were Democrats, according to the New York Times. Today it may be higher, and they are even less restrained than when there were more balanced voices in the news room. Now the media is almost universally distrusted. And Trump knows exactly who they are.
