The Voting Rights Act, an anti-federalist act that was used to break the last vestige of the former pro-slavery south in its day, is no longer needed. Originally set to expire in 1970, it has been re-upped numerous times. Distributing power back to the states should be seen as a pro-liberty position (Even when the local politicians are incompetent buffoons like NYC, Seattle, DC, Chicago and Portland).

Can you identify the problems it was intended to solve and when and how they were solved?

@RobBlair My questions at this point are what happened with those four states, what are the numbers today, what is the racial gap, and what has happened with the practices the law was intended to stop? Some states still are in pretty bad shape.
