Like LA, Portland and Seattle, the once beautiful city of Vancouver is suffering advanced decay.
City councils Are behaving like hard core capitalists when it comes to billion dollar property developments, but go completely woke-progressive on social policy.
Tent cities proliferate, crime surges, and disorder grows. There’s open drug use in broad daylight, because police are being directed not to enforce the law. More and more injection sites are springing up. There has been a de facto decriminalization of even the hardest of drugs, by local politicians who are more concerned with the dangers of plastic straws.
As discarded needles pile up in playgrounds, the latest “innovation” isn’t law enforcement. Sadly, it’s newly designed garbage bins for syringes.

I actually don't believe there are 'recreational drugs'. It would be interesting to know how many people stay on the 'recreational' level, and how many move on into substance abuse. My brain, my mind isn't perfect but I still value it. I don't want to mess with it.
As far as I see, you can't reason or change someone hooked on drugs.
I think they enter their own world. So littering, destroying isn't something they notice.
What you described is a recipe for destruction.

If by “recreation” they mean walking around in filthy clothing, covered in wounds, screaming randomly, and defecating on sidewalks.
@GeeMac I think that is the increasing drug use. And, may I warn others that one must be careful of prescription drugs also.
Need a baseline to see nothing is going south.
We are ultimately responsible for ourselves.
No government, no doctors can do it.
Not condemning them when I say they don't care.
They've got their own lives to sort out.
I think of all the fab, expensive condo buildings in Vancouver, and hope the people will be ok.

There is no political will to restore order, and “harm” reduction programs, which continue to spread, look more and more like palliative care.
