@Seriousreason I agree. Also, I read some stuff on snopes and now I can't even fully trust that. Google's no longer my main search engine, left FB 5 yrs ago, I can't even count on wikipedia... on goes the list. It's definitly a problem when so much of the online world has bias.

@Seriousreason By the way WaPo didn't pay out - their Insurance company paid the judgement. WaPo and all large media companies, NY Times, CNN...all of them carry liability insurance for if and when they get sued for libel and defamation. Those companies only pay the insurance premiums - the insurance companies are the ones who have or hire the legal staff to argue the cases in court. So really WaPo suffered very little if at all in the judgement against them.
Also it is worth pointing out that the settlement came with a NDA - non disclosure agreement. If Sandman were to go public about how much money he was awarded he would most likely be counter sued, dragged into court and made to forfeit the money he receive in the settlement.
Good for the kid and his family - glad they got the win in court but WaPo will merrily go on its way none the worse for the wear.
