Takeaway: Trump was Trump. He once again managed to force feed the narratives into the conversation that the MSM and Wallace in particular, don’t want to touch. Rude? Yep. A bully? Yeah. But if he’d politely waited his turn for the topic of the resistance and the hoaxes and frame-ups to be mentioned, or the Biden scandals, or a positive spin on his handling of the virus, he’d have gotten nothing.

Trump is an asymmetric fighter. Wallace had his pins all neat and tidy in formation and Trump just knocked them all off the field. Everyone can say, “Oh my; how coarse and crude.” But they’ll also be thinking, whether they realize it or not, “Why haven’t I heard that before?”

Trump’s biggest flub was not so much something he did, but what he didn’t do. He didn’t give Biden enough space to dig his own grave. He pounded away with some very good points, but he needed to step back and let Biden try to fill the silence.

In the end, he wasn’t the Trump we wanted to see, but he never has been; he was the Trump he’s always been. It’s who he is. He comes out fighting, he hits hard and he hits first.

Both of you make excellent points. He's definitely a street scraper. I will run one strange thought by you. I have often wondered if Trump had some form of autism. Not such a strange idea if you understand anything about the spectrum of autism. Trump's extremely limited vocabulary is what makes me think this. Brilliance also falls within the spectrum ... so it is not said to discredit him in the least.

Interesting point. Autism is not like measles or mumps; you get it, everyone knows you got it and there’s no ambiguity. Autism is called a “spectrum” precisely because it’s a grab bag of symptoms, a catch-all designation where they put things and won’t have shrug their shoulders and say “Ya got me.”

I have a close friend whose twin children both were diagnosed autistic. The boy is a musical prodigy—composer, keyboardist, but he’s still a little shaky on telling time and making change. His sister wouldn’t interact with people until she was four. A few years ago she graduated with honors from Rutgers. So...

I’ve read that Bill Gates is a high-functioning autistic. My only problem is, if such a wide selection of traits, conditions and symptoms are included in the category, is anything really categorized?

@Edgework I know, it really is a catch all. Usually (1) an oddity in the ability to interact with others, (2) over-sensitivity/reaction to external input, (3) intellectual ability +/ - the norm, and (4) a possible prodigy factor.

I have 3 out of 6 grandchildren diagnosed autism spectrum and each is affected in very different ways. In fact, of the 6 only one does not have a diagnosis of any kind. Very confusing at times. Years ago I worked with an extremely capable real estate paralegal. I have no doubt in my mind that she was autistic but as she was well into her 50's she had no diagnosis. She had a substantial string of oddities about her but because she was absolute perfection in her real estate deals she did well. Back then we just called such people "weird", "strange" or "eccentric".

We have all heard MSM stories of people who found working with or for Trump to be a disturbing experience. Coupled with his ability to spot what others completely miss on the international scene and the strange limited speech patterns I think it is possible.

@torontogal4388
I’m not convinced that “weird,” “strange,” and “eccentric,” were necessarily off base. The psychologizing of our pop culture has turned everything into a symptom. This is good news if you’re a therapist or a pharmacist, but it’s definitely marginalized people for what might just be individuality, and pushed us towards a grey sameness where all must conform to a narrow standard of acceptable behavior. It also legitimizes the increasing power of state apparatuses to bring nonconformists under control.

There’s a reason why the Soviet Union locked dissenters in mental hospitals instead of prisons. Individuality = insanity,

@Edgework For the most part I totally agree with you. We could have a lot of fun with this subject but I suspect now is not the time.

I think you have made a fair depiction of the crazy mess of a debate. Trump got to Biden. That was one thing I think he was trying to do. Not nice, but effective. As Trump noted, he was debating Both Wallace, and Biden. The frame of all the questions was the left's biased reporting. In the end, I have never before seen Wallace become flustered. And he was nervous laughing, at many points. The one time Trump, let Biden talk, Biden begin to wander all over the place, giving his set talking points in no order. The only problem with letting Biden do that, is The public on Biden's side begins to empathize with him. They do not care if he is not rational. Trump' people, for the most part, maybe just you and me, love him getting all of his points across, with no Queensberry rules involved! I really would like to see Trump take on Wallace. The man and his father before him, are such arrogant DC types. The very sort of animal he has had to fight all, almost, 4 years. Thanks for commenting, and giving me a chance to get my two cents in before, every body makes up their narratives.

Wallace gave him no choice.

True , Trump has enemy's on all sides . No time for politeness & grace in that debate.. Biden's lies made me cringe.
