The left has a simian understanding of civilization based on the primitive instincts for empathy and fairness in which the arts or humanities are not seen as a byproducts of civilization but the cause thereof. It reflects an immaturity or lack of ability to deal with the world as it is but rather the way it could be if reality didn't get in the way.

@RobD1 I never refused to acknowledge the complex reasons for the failure of oil companies--but THAT WAS BESIDE THE POINT. The only thing you've added to this discussion is an off-topic plea for compassion toward the poor big oil companies.

@WilyRickWiles actual its a point of fact that the Saudi Crown Prince crashed the price of oil on purpose in order to buy out Saudi-Aramco’s competitors. the Saudis can make profit at $2 a barrel and while yes they overshot the mark and drove the price to -$2 for 2 months it was an unprecedented world wide market takeover maneuver that would have put America in a position to take their shit and wage more wars in the middle east and possibly here forevermore. Steve Mnuchins actions were designed to keep American oil resources owned by America we were a cunt hair away from losing our domestic production and our below ground oil reserves to a country that has had us at war in the middle east since Reagan.

... but I don't expect people with a socialist world view to understand what a hostile takeover looks like, or the absolute shitshow (likely violent) that a foreign buyout of American oil production above and below ground would have caused.

@WilyRickWiles saving those companies in no way means more or less oil or carbon pollution as the Saudis would have kept pumping our oil and gas reserves out before exhausting theirs and they would have controlled the world price of oil at a palatable rate that would not drive consumers toward alternatives. but with foreign control of US domestic resources it could have turned the midwest into Yemen or Syria in a heartbeat and certainly would have bankrupted America and led to a dangerous level of destabilization and poverty in America.

... but as is expected that shit article edits the narrative to drive the ideology. disregarding the geopolitical consequences and likely non green outcomes. per usual the left is either playing checkers or dishonest on this issue.
