I'm old enough to remember when Christianity was a dominant aspect of culture. I don't recall people being happier.
I recall Jordan Peterson saying that if we built a perfect world people would want to tear it down out of boredom or something to that effect. It seems that the blind clock maker doesn't care about our happiness only that we keep moving. My problem with both Christianity and Buddhism is that finding inner meaning doesn't necessarily translate into productivity. A tame beast as it were is not necessarily a useful beast. In other words human progress is at least in part driven by discontent.
Assume for a moment that the purpose of religion is to provide social structure. What social structure does Christianity provide?
