LINK World Leaders Denounce Big Tech Censorship of President Donald Trump
I wonder if big tech anticipated the reaction of denunciation of the leadership in other nations? One comment stated, “This should be decided by citizens, not by a CEO. There needs to be public regulation of big online platforms."
Perhaps big tech should have left that genie in the bottle rather than invite nations to question the power they have assumed for themselves.

It is government's job to break up monopolies and then leave the small and medium sized businesses alone. There is a happy medium that doesn't involve more regulations or the Monopoly guy chasing in on obliterating his competition.

I think a lot of these leaders are just virtue signalling to their own public (while secretly supporting big tech in it's aide of the globalists). Unless they plan on taking steps like Poland did (fining companies for censorship), they are just empty, disingenuous words.

My first reaction is that these world leaders see the danger in how Big Tech can be used against them and are reacting out of self-preservation. It was virtually unthinkable this time last year that Donald Trump would not be elected to a second term; even with COVID-19, the thinking was that the economy had simply been too strong, Trump's ability to broker deals abroad too enticing, and his base too enthusiastic.
What few counted on was just how much the four year smear campaign against him galvanized his opposition, to the point where both the MSM and Big Tech were openly manipulating the flow of information to bring him down. And if it could happen to him, it could be weaponized and directed at ANY world leader.
@Alysandir true, I think some are nervous about the monster that's been created (for self preservation as you pointed out), but I think many of them feel safe as long as they belong to the globalist pack pushing for the 'Great Reset'. Probably, their main concern is getting cannibalized by their own in the inevitable power struggles, rather than opposition.
