Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Not a bad article, one of the most neutral pieces of opinion I've read in a while. I don't feel that people ridicule the use of that word so much as how it's used and by whom. Some people have become so obsessed with identity and that word is a convenient way to simplify it for them. The problem is that people are, or should be more nuanced than a single catchphrase and the intention behind being woke is that if you don't ascribe to that identity you are oblivious and therefore on the wrong side. Same goes for the appropriation of the term progressive, the insinuation is that if you are not then you're regressive...if you're not moving forward, you're moving backward...even better, if you're not part of the cure, you're part of the problem...cliches. These are all ways the left play the part of the altruist, and the rest of us not worth listening to, so they don't. It's coercion to conformity. The Woke are playing a role, like Hipsters...who know a lot about kitsch...but not intentionally.

I read the article and tried to figure out why I could simply stick with the straw man definition. I declare that I am not racist or misogynistic. The weather is great, I love diesel, and I am white. I understand why BLM exists but a want law and order ( i do not think one form of violence justifies another form of violence) and a never want to be referred to as woke.
Kitsch it is and that is the way I see cheap.
