Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I think you would have a hard time arguing that Biden isn't doing what most of his voters wanted. Because he got a lot of center left votes most is kind of misleading. Same thing applies to Trump. In the current environment most means more than oppose or are neutral. As Jordan Peterson pointed out recently for decades the country has been almost equally split along political lines making it impossible for any candidate to actually represent the majority in any meaningful sense.
What sets Biden apart is his refusal as a candidate to make clear what policies he would follow. It's a standard of politics in environments where there is no clear majority to make weak promises, Biden just took it to extremes. He has always been a political hack first and a person with principles third.
Biden has been an influence pedaling politician his entire life, part of the swamp if you like. What Trump promised to get rid of. It was never a realistic goal. The swamp extends well beyond Washington to special interest of all varieties. Including what you may all ordinary people. The only time this hasn't been true is during a crisis where the majority has a shared position. The problem today is that the special interests have diametrically opposed dogmatic positions. Interests based more on belief systems than practical objectives.
What we are seeing is not so much different than the protestant revolution. It keep Europe at war for hundreds of years. On the surface it looks ideologically driven but underneath it is driven by real economic and political struggles for power. The same process played out in Islam resulting in hundreds of years of sectarian violence that continues today.
As Adam Smith pointed out some forms of competition can be extremely destructive. When a society is divided along class structures and doesn't share the same interests conflict is unavoidable. In the past everyone benefited from industrialization to some extent. There is a reason serfs didn't stay in the country side despite the horrible working conditions in factories. Something Marx conveniently ignored. Today's economy seems to have no central point of shared interest. It's every group pursuing disparate interests.

We live in a time of tremendous opportunity where even fools and adventurers can become incredibly rich and powerful, Mark Zuckerburg and Jack Dorsey being exhibits A and B. Such times are extremely destabilizing. You could make an argument that New World gold destroyed the social fabric of Spain. The common people don't just get left behind their economic structure is disrupted. The value of labor is artificially reduced by importation based on the abstract value of some commodity be that gold or the internet. It creates an environment where loyalties are fleeting and social values decay. It happened in Russia when the serf system finally ended opening the way for revolution. At least a slave has stability if nothing else. What makes the current situation so bad is it is combined with the corrupting influence of Luxus. The slaves by historical standards are incredibly rich.
What I'm trying to do is show the underlying currents to what is perceived as an ideological conflict. What we often forget is that a society is a biological organism. It runs on the same instincts as the jungle. Civilization is just a thin overlay on millions of years old instincts.
