It is not a comparison, gender change surgery is, by definition, genital mutilation.

Speaking as a libertarian, if an adult wants to cut pieces off of themselves or sew pieces on - and has the financial means to pay for it - then good on them. Do what you like. Hell, I've seen people try to turn themselves into cats, FFS, so what do I care? (see photo)

But children are another matter entirely.

Simply put, children do not have the mental or emotional capacity to make life altering decisions. No one seems to dispute that EXCEPT when it comes to gender reassignment.

Even worse, no one - and I do mean NO ONE - can say for certain what's going to happen to the child when that first rush of hormones hits them. No can say for absolute certainty that the 8 year-old that wears dresses and wants to be a girl is going to think the same way after puberty hits. Are we then saying that he should never get the change to make that choice because the adults in his life made it for him?

There's a lot of things I don't agree with that I put up with because I believe your life is your life to do as you please, so long as you don't mess with anyone else's, but I put my foot down when it comes to children and animals. Neither deserve abuse from the people who control them.

Yeah, I’m going to trust an overweight mentally ill person to make important health decisions that affect society. Where the hell did we go off the rails!?! This is like a bad dream that you can’t wake up from.

Sure, maybe, MAYBE at 20 years, they can't handle their gender.
Personally, I think it's defective since if a female FEELS male, dressing like one is ACCEPTED.
Maybe not so much males, though. Make up and a short skirt just looks bad on a male.

So, it is like that when they're young, unsure, mixed up.
