I believe it was Trump I remember touting technical schools (while he was in the White House). He absolutely got it right, since colleges and universities have been declining in value for decades. Even 4 decades ago when I was attending college, they were far too interested in liberal arts courses than actually teaching something that would be used in a career. Their main value was in offering a degree that had the sole value of proving you could stick with something until you filled boxes and put on a cap and dress to receive your prized paper at the end. (Many jobs required a bachelor’s degree in anything, even underwater basket weaving; they didn’t care if you learned anything that could help you do the job better).

Now, many people are smart enough not to pay a higher salers to somebody who has a couple of extra worthless letters behind their name. When I was hiring, I was more interested in the person’s motivation level and capabilities. I paid the most to those who were the most valuable to the business (hard workers who made the business more profitable.). I don’t care if they attended a single day of school.

Many IDW posters scoff at Bill Maher but I’m a big fan of his withering criticism of the woke and the brainless. He’s one of the few well-known mainstream voices still willing to stand up progressivism, virtue signalling and Islamism. Of course he can be a dick, but he goes after liberals with the same enthusiasm he goes after everyone else.

I’ve heard his rants many times and this is the first time I didn’t think, “what a blithering idiot”. Of course, the things from him in this post were spliced together quips that left out his regular arrogant and ignorant buffoonery. I don’t see myself watching much more of him though. As I said before, even a broken clock gets it right 2 times a day. I wouldn’t expect him to become as valuable as a broken clock though.

Rockefeller helped to standardize education and it included educators being trained at his Teacher's college and having a teaching degree. Eventually, education became the same across the nation.

And a centralized bureaucracy is probably the worst possible way to establish and manage them.

Yes, bureaucracy bad. Teachers should be independent. In the good old days, professors were independent. Today, they are slaves of a department.
