LINK RON DeSANTIS DID IT AGAIN! New Law Requires Florida Students to Be Taught About ‘The Evils of Communism’
High school students in Florida will be required to learn about “the evils of communism” under one of three bills Gov. Ron DeSantis signed on Tuesday.
DeSantis signed the bills at a news conference at Three Oaks Middle School in Fort Myers. Two of the bills—HB 5 and SB 1108—focus on civics education, and the third—HB 233—requires freedom of expression at state colleges and universities.

This issue summed up in short... we should be teaching kids in school how to think critically for themselves, and not what to think. Teaching them history and subjects like racism before and during the Civil War/how native indians were treated poorly by the colonists etc is certainly fine, but we should refrain from pushing theories that are fiercely debated and personal opinions regarding which political systems are "evil". Teach the kids actual history and then let them arrive to their own conclusions.
So whilst I'd agree with DeSantis on the CRT part, I will have to disagree with him on pushing personal opinions. The instant we let personal viewpoints mix with basic education is the instant we give the respective state(s) way too much power, power of which wouldn't likely ever be conceded once acquired.
Lastly, while I certainly like DeSantis way more than Trump, I am not a fan of his as I'm not a "fan" of any Republican or Democrat politician. Only possible exception to that may be Rand Paul, maybe. I equally distrust communism/fascism/theocracy or empires of any sort, as they all have been responsible at one point in time or the other of committing human rights violations. Just my personal take on the subject, but as I mentioned before personal opinions of any kind have no place in the public school system.

Wait, isn't this the same guy who recently banned CRT? So don't allow one viewpoint taught in schools (from an ideology he disagrees with), but perfectly fine to force a specific viewpoint in school (from an ideology he agrees with)? How is this not totalitarianism in itself.
Of course this article omits the "totalitarian ideology" part of the bill, because they want to play up the Communism fearmongering.
Why isn't the bill to teach Communism in general through an analytical lens? Why is it forcing a narrative?

maybe because communism IS evil and always ends up in totalitarianism - just look through history or ask anyone who's survived a communist regime.

@73jazzbass one is forcing a viewpoint to, which is no different than to propaganda. The other is teaching a legal analytical theory (which isn't even actually being taught in grade school) that asks people to analyze law and see what conclusions they come up with.
