Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.The problem was that there was no apparent well defined mission or goal for the American military expedition into Afghanistan. No one ever pointed to a feasible objective there. What exactly would have constituted "victory" for USA and the Afghan people in that expedition? Furthermore what of the evil enemies present in all of the surrounding countries - the ones that border Afghanistan that is. what about that. There really could never have been anything resembling "victory" for USA.
The ONLY way to end that bloody war was to simply withdraw from the battlefield.
Please do not get me wrong here. The Biden administration was criminally incompetent in the way they abandoned and stranded American citizens and Afghan "friendlies" there. The Administration should be held criminally accountable for that.
But it was well beyond time that we should withdraw. IMHO of course.
