Population density is a significant factor in how individuals impact each other. For example one or two homeless pooping in the street is an annoyance. Thousands of homeless without proper sanitation is a health issue. The problem of course doesn't impact everyone equally. The rich can simply require that people that may carry pathogens not come in close contact with them.
We have returned to historical norms. A new aristocracy has arisen who are subject to their own rules and the rest of the population to a different set of rules. We even have a petite nobility. Those in the upper middle class, academics, upper level bureaucrats, and some professionals don't have the privileges and protection from the accountability the aristocracy have but petite nobility never do. That class has done fairly well however as the serfs have been ravaged.
What made the U.S. special was partly the frontier society. The elites learned that they couldn't oppress the serfs when there was free land. There solution was racial slavery. Although rights were originally reserved for property owning males they were extended overtime to other groups. If the elites in the colonies had never experienced the pain of being second class in the eyes of their European counterparts the unique rights in the U.S. constitution may never have been guaranteed. Geography plays an important role in social development.
Many of the freedom loving people now clambering for rights to be restored would move to a frontier if one existed.

If history is a guide they will soon turn on each other.
They have wanted an excuse to lock the Russian oligarchs out of positions in the new world order for a long time. That was fairly easy but China is a different matter. No way China is going to play by their rules or be cornered by the Western elites. Just as Hitler and Japan wouldn't play along and scared them into throwing some bones to the serfs China is the monkey wrench in the gears of their plans. Only the serfs can save them from what China has in mind for them. Muscle is still way more important than they believe and they are not as cunning as they think. They should have invested a lot more in robotics before trying to make slaves out of the working class. They actually believe in a post industrial economy and clean energy. Absolutely ignorant. The internet isn't a productive industry and solar and wind toys.
Oh shit. They invested in programming the working class into being content consuming wage slaves--Automatonomous Man. The Great Reset is a remaking of Common Man into the image of Global socio-cultural economic Homogeneity rather than the social structures toward a flourishing humanity.
I just don't know if captains and kings are capable of cooperation beyond shared self interest or ego stroking. Part of that ego involves cultural heritage. The Europeans still think they are superior to the rest of humanity. I'm not sure but it seems China and India are just as certain their heritage is superior and older.
