It’s compelling to watch the different standard of “fairness” at play as open season is declared on both affluent and ordinary Russians all over the world with war raging in Ukraine.
When Islamic terror is unleashed, the left immediately labels any hint of judgment against Muslims “hatred”, and demands its immediate end. There are pro-Islamic protests and international boycotts and much public shaming of anyone with a negative word.
Russians, on the other hand, burdened by their whiteness and Christian traditions, seem to be fair game for all sides.
New York is typical for what’s happening all over the world as Russians, many of them far from oligarch status, scramble to liquidate property and slip away:

I would also agree there is no groundswell of support to defend the average Russian against prejudice triggered by the depiction of what is happening between Ukraine and Russia. However, I’m not so sure I understand your depiction of Russians being “burdened by their whiteness and “Christian traditions”.
I’m an old Cold War vet and before that “war” ended, it was pretty common knowledge that the USSR had pretty much made it untenable to be a Christian in Russia or any other USSR state. Although Russia had been religious before the Bolshevik revolution in 1917, there was an asserted effort to wipe that and any other religious beliefs or tradition out.
As the base of the USSR was Russia, “the USSR became the first state to have as one objective of its official ideology the elimination of existing religion, and the prevention of future implanting of religious belief, with the goal of establishing state atheism (gosateizm).” As a part of this effort “In 1925 the government founded the League of Militant Atheists to intensify the persecution.”
After the fall of the USSR, missionaries have attempted to bring relief to those suffering many decades of religious persecution. However, I can’t say I would characterize post-Bolshevik revolution Russia as being “burdened by its Christian traditions”.

No, those are some good points.
There was a determined effort to stamp out all religion during the Soviet years. Yet, during my last visit to Russia seven years ago, across the country and in the old Soviet republics there were golden turreted cathedrals everywhere, lovingly preserved through war and revolution.
Inside the walls of the Kremlin itself are three massive cathedrals, along with three other major religious buildings and Ivan’s Bell Tower. The iconic St. Basils overlooked Red Square throughout the Communist years. Vladimir Putin cannot look out of a single window without seeing a beautiful Church. I even visited the Moscow cathedral where Pussy Riot was arrested, and Russian worshippers were appalled that the women’s punk band would dare invade their sacred space!
Residents of St. Petersburg take pride in the beautiful Savior of the Spilled Blood, and Russia’s imperial leaders, including the Romanovs rest in the big Cathedral within the Peter and Paul Fortress. Russian history and pride is inextricably intertwined with orthodox Christianity.
Remember there was an effort to stamp out religion in post-revolutionary France. Even the beloved Notre Dame cathedral was turned into a public market for a time; but the people held firm.
I also used the terms in an ironic way, since critics seem to feel “whiteness” and “Christianity” somehow devalues the suffering that’s unfolding. To paraphrase Joy Reid of MSNBC, coldly commented that Americans only care about this war because these are white Christians killing each other, adding that no one in the West cares about wars where black Muslims die. Or equally sickening, “why is Europe welcoming refugees from this “white Christian” war, when they didn’t want Syrians coming in. Europe doesn’t have a refugee problem, it has a racism problem.”
These are clearly false and divisive criticisms that need to be rejected.
