Although it has throughout history been used as a tool for the rich and powerful (not for “the people&rdquo
. Some presidents have been more effective in getting subtle propaganda (or domestic information operations) past the reporters or even having their operatives within the press plant propaganda and labeling it “according to anonymous high-ranking government sources”.
However, in recent years (over a decade) there has been a more bold and open use of the press as a method of influencing the public. The press as a whole is only too happy to play along with the game since it is willing to do anything to stay afloat and relevant.
“We the People” have become lazy and willfully ignorant, so it is easy to manipulate us.
