Yes I am familiar with the 5 fundamental laws of stupidity. I came across a video of that on you tube several months ago and posted it here somewhere. Although I have to admit I would not have been able to give the name Carlo Cipolla if asked who came up with that concept. I agree with it fully.

Isn't it stupid to pillage?

I have done some stupid things so I know what stupid is. As a matter of fact I would not be alive today if someone were not helping me through some of my stupid episodes.

How do you see stupidity?

@FrankZeleniuk Not sure. Seems to me the Black Friday sales day is pillaging.

Now if you pillage as a viking, well, that's a life choice. If you are a maurader because of necessity, that's a choice of life or die.

I see stupidity as “Stupid is as stupid does”, meaning that a person should be judged by his actions, not his appearance.

I don't think people are stupid but can act stupid or be stupid. You may not be smart or educated but kind of like from the movie Animal House ~ "Fat Drunk and Stupid Is No Way To Go Through Life Son"

@FrankZeleniuk All of us are human and we all make stupid mistakes from time to time. For the purposes of this discussion we are talking about people or a person who who repeatedly and consistently says and does stupid things. Firs thing to keep in mind however that there is no real correlation between Stupidity and IQ.
So here are the 5...
These are Cipolla's five fundamental laws of stupidity:

1. Always and inevitably, everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.

2. The probability that a certain person (will) be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.

3. A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or to a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses himself.

4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular, non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places, and under any circumstances, to deal and/or associate with stupid people always turns out to be a costly mistake.

5. A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.

Corollary: a stupid person is more dangerous than a pillager.

As is evident from the third law, Cipolla identifies two factors to consider when exploring human behavior:

Benefits and losses that an individual causes to him or herself.
Benefits and losses that an individual causes to others.
