The guy on our left is right to applaud Elon’s latest contributions to the world while maintaining a level head about accepting everything Elon does as automatically beyond reproach.
I have been quite impressed and supportive of Elon Musk and many of the things he is doing. That being said, it is important for thinking people to maintain a healthy skepticism about each new thing he (and anybody else) is doing. In a way, I’m suggesting that we remember not to worship him and/or think all his actions are good and without harmful overall impacts just because many seem to be or because he seems to sincerely be on the right side of arguments.
Remember, this same genius sees implanting computer chips/ports in people’s brain as a good thing. This particular idea would be a major success for those seeking to track and control each individual around the world. There are already people seeking to have devices implanted in every person on the planet that will track their temperature (for Covid or other pandemic) so they could quarantine individuals without the need to quarantine the entire population. These devices would also have gps positioning and along with the technology that can allow automatic infusion of insulin or other drugs, could be used to remotely put people into a temporary coma for their own good and that of others around them.
As somebody who spent a lot of my life studying and working as a computer (software and hardware) engineer, I have spent a lot of effort looking at bleeding edge technologies to analyse not only the valuable contributions, but also the negative applications and risks they will present. Most people just look at how much valuable potential the technology might offer and they fail to consider the irreparable damage that could result from gleefully and blindly rushing headlong into the abyss without installing precautions.
