I guess you could compare it to the model T and Ford's idea of a "peoples car".
What is striking about the difference is how many people would call Ford a robber baron and deny that Hitler was a socialist. A good example of cognitive bias and the ability of people to deal with cognitive dissonance in the face of complexity. If you can lie to yourself life is so much simpler at the emotional level.
