DISCLAIMER: This book being quite lengthy, this post does not intend to follow suite. Instead only pointing out one or two of his initial positions for now.

I find it striking that, right off the bat as it were, Pascal addresses a root of our troubles today. Or is not the building conflagration of western civilization at hand with the dispute between (mathematical) ‘logic’& ‘principles’ on one hand and (intuitiveness) ‘feelings’ with (other ways of knowing etc.) on the other hand?

Next is the (socialist) observation that the nail standing above the rest, it itself must be struck down. No individualism can be tolerated by the communist mind. Ronald Reagan’s old descriptive analogy of a communist is a person that can’t abide seeing a plump (fat) man near a skinny one without assuming that the (plump) fat man had been stealing from the victimized other. This in itself is a violation of a basic scientific principle, that the result of a thing DOES NOT infer its cause – yet that’s the basis of socialist communism in a nut-shell. Something of an alternate application of the old adage that “The ends justifies the means.”

Socialist communism is being written into law as we speak. With the idea that the accused must prove their innocents otherwise they remain guilty of whatever they’re being accused of – presumption of innocence is slowly being eliminate from western jurisprudence.

You see, those invading immigrants coming across America’s southern border can’t be at fault because they’re representative of the victimized skinny man and America is representative of the plump one. That’s why, to a communist, crime is the fault of authorities appointed by the plump villein America and not the criminals who rep[resent the skinny victim.

PS1. As Pascal stated that the most important should be the first spoken of, ‘due process’ would appear to be the most important concept in his writings. Could it be that the concepts behind ‘due process’ also serve as the foundation of western civilization?
