The Deep State Hiding in Plain Sight
Mike Lofgren, a congressional staff member for 28 years, joins Bill Moyers to talk about what he calls Washington's "Deep State," in which elected and unelected figures collude to protect and serve powerful vested interests. "It is how we had deregulation, financialization of the economy, the Wall Street bust, the erosion or our civil liberties and perpetual war," Lofgren tells Moyers.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.For those who enjoy seeing Republicans go down, regardless of wrongdoing, they are not likely to complain, nor even admit to the existence of the Deep State. The main characteristic of the Left is the lack of understanding of the value of Constitutionally protected rights to due process. They are the folks who will judge without evidence and convict in the court of public opinion; as well as be the first to be outraged when caught in any infraction. They often complain that the Constitution is outdated, frequently without ever having read the document, almost no familiarity of the founding principles, and no historically viable alternative. They typify those living in the moment, as if actions have no consequences - especially if you agree with them.

@CarrenTracey, I only implied that Democrats are Deep State, and I did not imply at all that Republicans are. It seems likely that the Deep State also contains any others who would sabotage public policy or action directed by authorities.
@CarrenTracey, President, Congress....Dog catcher. Anyone in authority. If you have ever tried to benefit the public with your expertise, you have run into them. I was on an energy committee - directly in my area of expertise, and thwarted by those who felt they were not restrained by the scope of limitation of their powers to exercise their uninformed opinions.
@CarrenTracey, Deep State by their nature remain covert and dishonest about their agenda, so who said you will know who they are??? And I could do nothing about those against whom I found myself. They were elected and defended by their electors and colleagues - just like Pelosi and Schumer. Both liars and yet defended.
We agree that they are often connected to social engineering and disinformation from the media.
