Can't say the white people weren't being racist nor can I say they were. But, I can definitely say that truck driver lost a good chunk of his day and experienced emotional stress based on the presumption of racism.
Same thing with the recent Arbery shooting. If he thought the local law would give him a good shake (something that will need to be corrected), he may not have tried to overcome the man carrying a shotgun. Instead, going with the racist narrative, he presumably saw two white supremacists who would were intent on lynching him and felt the need to rescue himself.
Not sure where the balance is, but black people should feel comfortable in their country they helped build. At the same time we should remain vigilant against group mentality that pits one identity group against another.

If only we could go back in history 
I saw a young black man being interviewed on the street by a reporter who was obviously trying to get him to say Trump was a racist. He just laughed and said why give up a good thing, as long as we can make white people feel guilty we can get free shit. He looked exactly as you would expect a young gang member to look. I interpreted his response to mean he had as much contempt for the white reporter as her intended target.
Do you think that reporter would go into that neighborhood alone at night? If not does that make her prejudiced? Is the young man an exploiter or a victim? The point is that two things can be true at once. As it applies here someone could be racist and still be acting entirely appropriately and someone else be entirely innocent of racism and still act inappropriately.
We can only judge people by their actions for the most part. It seems to me if we can get how people act right, as in adherence to social standards, we could worry a lot less about what they are thinking.
