Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.They demand tolerance, but they do not understand what the word means. They think it means, "you accept me as I am, but I do not have to accept you."
But that's not what tolerance is. Tolerance is a two-way street: I don't like you, you don't like me, but we agree to not allow our dislike for each other to keep us from living in relative peace. That's tolerance.
The example I use of this is the LGBTQ+ community's axe to grind against Chick-Fil-A. The owner and founder said very plainly that he has nothing against gay people, but as a Christian, he believes in the definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman. And furthermore - shockingly - he donated to Christian charities. Now, you are free to disagree with him, but until such time as you can point to a Chick-Fil-A policy of discrimination against gay people or working to deny gay people rights, then you are getting from him what you asked for: tolerance. He doesn't agree with you, but he tolerates you and has even gone so far as to welcome you to dine or work in his establishments. Yet, in return, you want him punished. You want Chick-Fil-A protested and canceled. You actively work to deny new Chick-Fil-A franchisees from getting operating licenses. That is NOT tolerance. That is you punishing someone for not supporting the position you want them to support.
I wish more people understood this. Oppression is NOT acting the victim just because someone isn't actively supporting you.
