Where he was wrong is: that legitimate authority is limited to the single purpose of protecting Individuals' rights from one another, through due process and according to their consent as-received through their elected Representatives... not the fleeting whims of the squeakiest mob.
It is not for protecting the State from the very Individuals from whom the State derives its authority in the first place, which... at the risk of playing "tit-for-tat", sounds a lot more like Democrats.

Mussolini initially showed promise with tremendous growth and expansion of his economy using corporatist partnerships similar to the PPPs that our govts use today (Private/Public Partnership).
Mussolini did something really stupid. He convinced himself that he was a military strategist and commander with no training, no close trust or relationships to any ranking military officials, and no knowledge of (then) modern warfare.
Then he committed the ultimate act of insanity with his economy...he took the PPP system that was supporting the domestic economy and used it to run run his unhinged war aspirations. Collapse!
What Justin Trudeau has done to Canada is very similar to Mussolini. Trudeau is using Covid to back his authoritarian aspirations, in light of his well documented support for the CCP.
Trudeau will meet the same end as Mussolini.
