@Weltansicht yes, 'The Gulag Archipelago' should be drilled into every student and teacher, documentaries and film versions need to be made too.
I'll have to look up 'Live Not By Lies', but that reminds me of the Dostoyevsky quote about lying to oneself - it sums up why mainstream society is the way that it is.

I think they know of the meaning of loss in Afghanistan too. So they do have a psychological advantage there and no tolerance of miscreants. I don't think they are willing to submit to the globalization oligarchy after the century of communism and the 'infallibility' of the totalitarian state.

I mean there are certainly corruption, technocrats and commie symps in Russia and their youth is not in all that great shape, objectively speaking, but compare to the west they are in far better shape. At least Putin is not insane, he is competent, and does not allow same kind of foreign influence we see in many countries, As harsh as Russia is, its no where near as insane as CCP and considering their natural resource sand test of time, and smallest debt of countries, I would put them in advantages position for the future.

Did you by chance see when Putin & Xi met the other day, and as they were walking off stage, they were talking? Does Putin know Mandarin or Xi know Russian? I lean towards Putin being the polyglot, as I believe he is x-KGB but there is much controversy as to his rank, title and such.

In regards to Russia and China, they have an uneasy alliance. Putin knows he can't trust the CCP, and its a threat to Russia, so originally he wanted to get closer to EU, but that was a problem for US that feared it would lose its grip over EU if Russia is there, so they used EU to push Russia back and demonize Putin and put sections and place their players in Ukraine etc. This basically forced Putin to find alliance with CCP in the even of full scale world war. And for peace time trade deals.

But CCP and Russia under Putin is an uneasy alliance to be sure.
