My recent ancestors who immigrated to North America NEVER changed their names. Living under another name was something criminals practiced to hide their identity

I get what you are saying. Many on that list simply used their nicknames with their real last names in place of their birth certificate first names. That was very common. My own family did that. Buster instead of Percival Edward. Sonny instead of George Thomas. Bub instead of William Henry. My own nickname was Butch from the time I was 4 until well into my teens. The term Butch was associated with masculinity in the 1930s-50s especially until the 1970s when the term was mainstreamed by the Lesbian community and is often associated with homosexuality today.
Changing one's name to reflect (or deflect) a specific ethnicity is very different from a stage name. All of John Wayne's children had the surname of Morrison. One son took on his father's stage name, but still has his real name of Morrison on family documents. That is my point.
Why didn't Liebowitz change his name to Silverstein or Singer or Goldman?
@Sensrhim4hizvewz Well, all I'm saying is that someone like Jon Stewart who is into show business, could have changed his name to be easier to market, and there is no big conspiracy behind it. Its quite common thing in show business. If you think he did it for another reason, I suppose you would need some kind of proof for me to accept it. To me it just seems more likely that he did it for branding in Hollywood. As so many others have.
Self-loathing is common among whites and white Jews often have an extra dollop. Just ask Tim Wise. It's easy to picture Stewart (or our own @JacksonNought for that matter) getting beaten in the street by a black or a Palestinian and blaming himself for provoking the guy with his privilege.
