While there are a plethora of derivations, I do believe that this single question stabs directly at the heart of humanities apprehensive ‘consternation.’
To one side Individual Liberty is all important; while to the other side it’s some defective idea that all people can, and should, be made Equal though not born that way.
Bill Maher drove a spike into the heart of this socialist beast when he asked Bernie Sanders what the difference between Equality (Equality of Opportunity) and Equity (Equitable Outcome) is?
What it boils down to is that socialism believes it proper to manipulate Equality of Opportunity in order to bring about Equitable Outcome – whatever that may be.
While it seems like such a ridiculously simplistic question – yet it stumble massive numbers of politically left leaning people to this very day.
All of America’s founding documents were written with just one side of this question in mind – Equality of Opportunity was all our founders asked for.
