Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Big pharma has done a lot of good, but the corruption which is part of that industry needs to do a whole hell of a lot of stuff to make up for the evil. I do not want the entire industry punished, but I pray a bunch of attack lawyers find the cases to gut the guilty parties in that industry. Repubs and Dems also need to revisit the patent protections laws and make it so other corporations are not allowed to buy the patents from corps and triple price. Patent protections are designed to pay for the research not to guarantee profits of megabuyouts etc.

usually when there is a settlement (payout on the part of a defendant - in this case Eli Lilly) there is no jury trial - I do not understand how there can be both a jury trial and a 20m payout...I am not a lawyer but something is very odd with this story.
