I think I could win. Before hitting the road I would get a dummy, dress it up to look like a hippy from the 60s, and use black paint to write on the driver's side "I went on a hunting safari to California. All I got was a dirty hippy, and his ugly car". To help hedge my bet and make sure I stayed warm (Wyoming can get damned cold) I would wear my Australian Outback duster. This would also help me to blend into the local landscape.

This is wrong plain and simple.
As for the rest, I do agree with the most part. There are some instances where the writer goes to an extreme I don't necessarily agree with. Such as the "look at vax deniers" that alone tells me he and I would not find any common ground at all.
I also wonder how many of these things the writer insists everyone else do that he actually does himself, like "embracing" discomfort?

@Tdonald When I read the bio I was wondering how much "snowflake" influence he might be under. Especially with all the psychology background. It actually surprised me he had written about God in a positive light when I saw that.
The first nation to outlaw slavery was Britain in 1808.
I think it's a bit exaggerated, but freedom of speech means you can express yourself however you wish, and others can express their opinion about it. It's just an opinion. If that bothers you, you just might be a snowflake.

That being said, I have 3 sons. My oldest is now 19, and has moved to California. I worry about him some, but knowing that I've taught him how to drive a manual transmission, fix a flat, and the myriad other "manly" skills that his generation generally seems to lack, I think he'll be ok. My younger two are 9 and 7. I'm proud to say they both generally prefer to spend time with me tinkering in the garage, checking jobsites, or going fishing/hunting/hiking to playing video games. They do love their YouTube videos, but a lot of what they watch tends to be outdoor/survival based. I think the biggest issue here is,unfortunately, MY generation's apathy. No one is teaching their children the skills we were taught. Too many parents are using the TV as a surrogate parent.

I taught my oldest daughter to drive a standard transmission when she was 10. We only drove in the woods though, it was so she would be able to get her and her sister to safety if something happened to me while we were all out in the woods. When she got her first car she learned to change tires safely, check the various fluids and refill them if need be. She still tells me how often her friends, male and female both, are amazed she can do all this.
@KCSantiago my oldest has had some of those same experiences with his friends. Even in small towns in Wisconsin most of these kids don't learn those basics.
