Historically China has been more nuanced than this, preferring to leverage opportunities outside its borders rather than excursions into territories it must then manage. The lessons of the Roman Empire are lost on the West, but not China.

I unfortunately have a democratic governor. He has closed all restaurants, bars and schools and has cancelled all festivals for the next month. A lot of people will lose a lot of money. Some people live check to check. This will be devastating!
@FEWI, Yes, me too. We are essentially under Martial Law without proven cause.
Most of us lose big in this event. For me its an opportunity to beat the drum when they are proved wrong and vote the bastards out.
I'm looking forward to an 80s style economy again, with the socialists slinking back into the holes out of which they crawled.
I would like too see who is selling and who is buying in world markets ...
