They deserve our sympathy and whatever help their local communities can generate. And if they are unfortunate enough to have committed crimes, they must be judged by our system.

I think this kind of behavior comes from abject fear - terror. Something profoundly traumatic happened in his life. Perhaps real experience o imagined this trauma casued him to find way to insulate himself - to protect himself in order to allay his terror. He developed a new personality. Mr Robotto? His choice of this particular manifestation this particular milieu for his "other" self is certainly unique but the psychosis is not. It is known as dissociative identity. Commonly misinterpreted as schizophrenia. I don't think Dr Phil can help him. Nor should he try.
