The Left has been outed now, mainly by Trump. No one has any excuse anymore for not understanding their insane belief that all things are government, including reality and physics itself. Really folks, its time to set them (Labour, progressives, Democrats, socialists, communists) aside for their own good and never, ever let them any where near public office again.

Humans are more like Chimpanzees than ants. Ants don't have class hierarchies. Each class of ant goes about it's business of it's own volition. Every ant is equal despite their varying level of expendabilty. The queen is more a slave to the servants than the servants to the queen. The ant lives in an engineered environment that is harsh but stable in which a slow lifestyle is evolutionarily advantageous. With chimpanzees being less slaves to instinct their place in the hierarchy is less predetermined. Class structure emerges out of freedom. To the degree that Chimpanzees have behavioral flexibility they are free to act outside the boundaries of social welfare. Because Chimpanzees exist in an environment that is easy but unstable evolution has endowed them with a predisposition for a fast lifestyle. An imposed class structure regulates those predispositions to a degree so that their society is not totally chaotic.

For the most part humans share the predispositions of Chimpanzees. Our instincts are most appropriate for a easy but unstable environment. Civilization has flipped those instincts on their head. Civilization creates a harsh but stable environment. Most of the time we don't notice the harshness of the civilized environment because the harshness generally stems from fragility. Civilization tries to turn us into ants and force us adopt a slow lifestyle. Like Chimpanzees who are predisposed to a fast lifestyle class must be imposed to maintain order. Order that for the maintenance of civilization implies ant like division of labor.

Civilization breaks down when class structure does not reflect a hierarchy of competence. When Chimpanzee preferences prevail. When leaders are selected on form not function. Where the leaders are appropriate for a easy but unstable environment where they themselves are inclined to a fast lifestyle.

It's not so much the hierarchy itself that is chaotic but the placement of people in the hierarchy that is chaotic. Our Chimpanzee preferences mean we will select individual with "people skills", the ones that build networks, for positions of authority. The least ant like and the least likely to act on their own volition towards a common goal. To counter this phenomenon we create checks and balances.

The press is supposed to check the power of government, congress the presidency and the courts the electorate. To the extent that these institutions are dominated by people inclined towards a fast lifestyle civilization is in crisis. We are trying to live in an ant hill of class isolation where the sense of interdependence has broken down. Worsening the crisis is the modern denial of freewill. Where as the ant's volition is entirely instinctual we are dependent on the artificial construct of freewill to embrace a hierarchy of competence. No civilization can survive if people refuse to freely embrace mutual responsibility.

Its strange walking around Costco with no mask, with most people wearing them. Now Costco is requiring masks. No more Costco for the foreseeable future.
