It's kind of concerning when top contributors have become inactive... Mccarthy, for example - he/she used to make several posts everyday, but hasn't posted anything since May. Or Biosphere - he hasn't been active since April. Hope they haven't caught COVID-19, or anything like that. Maybe they got bored of hanging out with us.
I see it as a sign of a drop in right-wing (and pro-Trump) political energy in the US. Moreover, the greater IDW political project seems to have died and not yet settled on a new configuration.
An interesting perspective.
You are making an interesting observations here at a time when I have seen my usage become less. Is it recognizing that my current input is yielding limited results and I need to rethink my approach to improvement.
Hello. Different members use this site for different reasons, I guess. I make posts when I start wondering about something and want some more thoughts from others, or I simply want to share funny jokes, interesting articles, etc.
Part of it is that if the topics become too topical the forum doesn't provide the escape some people use it for. Another thing is if the topics become either repetitive (GUILTY!) or the responses indicate that typical posters are unwilling to play with nuance or tolerate adapting to demonstrated mistakes in their ideological perspectives.
If it's too current, too "real," too repetitive, or too dogmatic, it loses the spirit of thoughtful AND interesting AND fun.
Good analysis there, sir.
Possibly down to the quality of the responses,
Maybe repetition of routine needed to change,
Who knows their reasons!
Remember HighQ?
He was a provocative twat who upset lots
But I enjoyed sparring with him, I know @Naomi enjoyed our jousts
It's a lot to do with mindset, I think. If you come on with your mind all made up, you're not gonna be interested in any alternative view. (Then why come on in the first place? Lol) Some may take others' comments too personally too quickly. Some may jump to conclusions too quickly. Some are far too serious all the time, perhaps (easy targets for trolls Lol). I don't know!
@Naomi those are words few people are confident enough to use "I don't know!"
I messaged a few of them because I missed their take on critical issues and was worried that something had happened to them. They unfortunately decided to pull out. In short, most had the opinion.. You can’t have an intellectual discussion with an idiot, aka leftist troll. The 2 you mentioned I have not messaged.
People come and go @MaskedRiderChris I sometimes drop away for a week or so depending on my state of mind or health
