Well said! Rejecting skin colour as a criterion for any decision is long overdue.
Ah, yes. The catch-22 that should have prevented John Lewis from recognizing and confronting Jim Crow.

@Lightman OK, clearly I need to do some teaching here. When someone uses quotation marks when posting a story, that means that they are quoting something that appears in the story. The story itself was written in memory of John Lewis. The defining events of his life were in the middle of the 20th century when he fought legal segregation. Do you know what legal segregation means? I don't care if you weren't raised racist--it's irrelevant to a discussion of John Lewis's life and the relevant American history.
