Long recession is a good point, in the late 19th century The Long Depression was a long economic downturn marked by relentless deflation. I too do not think we will have 1930's style bread lines but a long deep slump is a real possibility. Look at the BLM protest, they in fact have nothing to do black issues, its a white college age phenomena. Its the woke passion, college educated, skilless indenture servants, a kind of new feudalism.

The Dems have already badly damage the economy with grossly overdoing and extending lock downs. A lot of small business have been ruined and large ones have taken a big hit. A lot of Dem bailout money will go to woke indoctrination camps (schools) and green special interest all which have negative returns, they are NOT investments they large net losses. China is disconnecting and turning into a neo-Maoist techno tyranny. If the worlds economic system is broken as there has been so much damage it may not be possible to simply reboot the economy. So paying out to non productive special interest and costly unproductive green cronies will actually drag down the economy even more. It will not be like the dam and river projects under FDR, they were actually Hoover's plan, that had long term productivity. The radical green plans all will have a deep negative return, they will be costly losses.

the answer is yes but it has little or nothing to do w/who wins or loses this election cycle. The economy is already operating on hopes and wishes.

Yuh but saying Biden wouldn’t be the worst pick is like saying a mule is better than a horse.
While I totally agree, an economic implosion seems all but inevitable, the only question being when, who is actually in control when it tanks could be the difference between going down with wheels down vs wheels up.
Its more like a mule and a banana. While nether of them are any good at brain surgery the mule can do certain kinds of work very well. The banana will just sit there and soon rot.
Warren Buffet is cash heavy right now. He has even bought some gold, probably a hedge option against treasury volatility. I would speculate his stock positions are heavy on insurance. That is heavily hedged with with any returns going into insurance.
