LINK Trump Says in Michigan that Biden Will Be 'Shot' Three Weeks After Election
During the 2016 campaign, then-candidate Donald Trump drew outrage for suggesting that the "Second Amendment people" could do something if then-Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton won that cycle's presidential election.
Many saw it as a veiled call for his supporters to unleash violence on the former Secretary of State.
Four years later, Trump is drawing similar outrage for his questionable word choice regarding 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden at a rally in Michigan.
Trump was repeating the campaign's oft-deployed talking point that Biden's candidacy is really a plot to get his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), installed as President.
Trump suggested that Biden would be "shot" within three weeks of taking office, setting the stage for Harris, whom Trump falsely claims is the most liberal person in the United States Senate.

I thought he was using "shot" as a figure of speech, meaning all of Bidens energy will have been used up and he'll be useless. Like "spent", "done in for", "all dried up", etc. (To go along with the whole "Harris is the one who's actually running for president" jabs) That's how I heard it anyway. I later saw this theory going around that Trump was dog whistling, calling for Biden to be "offed" and I really don't think that's what he meant.
Again, not sure if that is or isn't what Trump meant, it's just how I heard it when I first saw the clip.

At a certain point you have to stop making excuses for Trump, claiming he didn't mean something literally or was using a metaphor or joking or something. I think he speaks very specifically, so he can dog-whistle and then claim later he meant something else.
@JacksonNought I was just saying how I heard it. I do try not to make excuses for Trump or anyone else for that matter. I'm not unquestioningly loyal like that. I can name a number of things Trump has said or Tweeted that I've personally found offensive or, for lack of a better word, "tone deaf".
An example would be the "looting starts, shooting starts" tweet. I was not a fan.
I also don't want to "translate" Trump. I have seen numerous posts of those who do, but I like it more when bad behavior is called out rather than "explained". I can see how my response could come off that way, however.
I'm still confused on "dog whistling". I've read articles on it and I find them hard to understand. I'm not saying they don't exist. Just that I've just seen them pointed out, and I don't "get it".
There was an 86 45 decoration behind Whitmer. Some people said it was a dog whistle to kill the president. I didn't think it looked that literal to me.
Trump told The Proud Boys stand back and stand by. I didn't think it was a call to action, however the Proud Boys put the slogan online under their logo, so maybe it was?
Well, Harris would be the most liberal person in that particular position of power, that’s for sure. We don’t need the likes of either one of them in office. Anyway, Trump is just saying what a lot of other people are thinking.

I'm pretty sure that a small room full of hands could count off the number of people who are voting FOR Biden, or who think a Biden vote isn't really an expression of hope for a mostly Harris term.
@govols sorry, false narrative. If people really wanted Harris, she would have done better in the primaries. If anyone is only voting for Biden in hopes of a Harris administration, it is a very small fringe percentage. No different than people only voting for Trump because they want a Pence administration.
It's more common for people to be voting for Biden less so because they are thrilled about him, but now because Trump is the worst president in history and needs to be voted out to save this country.

Hell no people don't want Harris!!! But I know of nobody who WANTS Biden other than those who think he's the best chance to beat Trump...but they don't want him, and don't expect him to be allowed by fate or by the powers-that-be to serve out a term as president.
@govols sorry, but as a left-winger, who knows many others, no one thinks there is some grand plan to remove Biden so that Harris can take over. It's a right-wing fear mongering talking point. The only conspiracy by the "powers that be" was to get Bernie out of the race so Biden could be the nominee, which is also why the whole socialism / most liberal ever talking points are also false.

It isn't a false narrative or a belief in a grand scheme. It's reality to my honest best knowledge. The vote for Biden is pragmatic and chasing the defeat of Trump, but again, NOBODY but Biden expects him to complete a term.
