Obama Invents 'Office of the President-Elect'
Despite Bells and Whistles, 'Office of President-Elect' Holds No Authority
I'd forgotten about this. The president elect is not the same as the "office" of the president elect. The office of the president elect began with Obama.
As far as Trump using the "office of the president elect", there are a couple differences between 4 years ago and now. First, no mass mail vote, which has lengthened the count timing significantly. Second, that was Obama's second term and this is Trumps first term. Even though Hillary was making allegations of fraud, she wasn't the sitting president.
The best comparison would be between 2012 and now. If Romney had been declared the president elect by MSM, and Obama had sufficient reason to suspect fraud, would seeing Romney under the banner of "office of the president elect" have gotten under the skin of Democrats if there were investigations taking place, and the election had not been made official? I suppose, that's hard to know, but I have a feeling the Democrats would find it even more suspicious.
