Democracy is mob rule that is why enlightened individuals set up a republic in the U.S. It is painfully obvious that the intelligence of our "elites" has declined in the intervening years. It's called relaxed selection and is universally applicable to all creatures great and small. What passes for increased intelligence, the Flynn effect, is environmental in origin and reflects increases in specialized abilities not general intelligence. Example A of how relaxed selection effects mental acuity would be the mentally ill George the third who the Republican revolution replaced.
Like most unpleasant realities today these simple facts will be disputed by "experts" and cause many to want to find a "safe space". If you are old enough to witness how the educational system has been dumbed down over the last 70 years, even for STEM, apply that to political philosophy and you can understand why politics are as they are today. More data doesn't help if the hardware and operating system is corrupted.

Agree. I have commented before on the fallacy of having a "universal" democracy. A vote is a privilege and not a right. The privilege should only be extended to those with an interest in the nation and not a self interest. Some groups can be excluded such as public unions, first generation immigrants and criminals. Only if we have an interest in the nation are we going to elect individuals with an interest in the nation. Many people today, are interested in the environment or the planet. Is there any doubt why we have elected Trudeau? He cares not for the nation and is selling our sovereignty to global interests.
