A celebrated Canadian filmmaker has been cancelled in another instance of progressives who can’t live up to their own values.
Michelle Latimer claimed indigenous heritage; but like Elizabeth Warren, the imaginary Indian, and Rachel Dolezal, the fake black woman, it was just another woke scam.
Latimer based her claims on those two sacrosanct progressive icons of “self-identification” and “oral history” — both meaningless woke concepts, which liberate delusional claims from the need for empirical evidence. Latimer’s doc, The Inconvenient Indian, was quickly pulled from Sundance, and she was forced to resign from The Trickster, the indigenous-themed TV series she co-created for the super-woke Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
The kicker is that Latimer wasn’t cancelled for her dishonesty. She’s being punished for breaking the progressive decree that writers, actors, painters and other artists may only deal in content and stories from their personal identity group. Black stories by blacks, and Indian actors for Indian roles. Sounds just like those old racist rules on whites only bus seats and black only lunch counters. Will the woke ever wake up to their own racism?
