The words land of the free for a start
@BikerPetehall70 Ok, why would you change those words? I take it you see that as an inaccurate description of USA? Can you elaborate?
@BikerPetehall70 we still enjoy more freedom than anyone else. Our country is a shadow of what it was. But it's still a far cry from North Korea or Somalia. Only those who have been truly stripped of their freedom, possess any real notion of what it is. No American has truly lost their freedom, when that day comes, you'll know it.
@Buck50vic3v3rs There is also the fact that the bombardment of Fort McHenry (which the anthem was written about) was an example of the determination of Americans to fight for the preservation of their freedoms, and a reminder of the necessity to continue to do so. If freedom is ever lacking in USA, the national anthem serves as a reminder to the citizens of their responsibility to restore and preserve it. I would see that as the perfect reason NOT to change that line.

@Rick-A you may not be the freeest people who you think you are, name one thing you can do without a permit or licence, and have the highest percentage of population incarcerated in the entire world , think about mandatory minimum sentences
