@eschatologyguy No problem, I don't think most Americans really understand what everyone does in Washington (including me.) Too many cooks in the kitchen, messing up the chili.
I'm not sure how to phrase the question, to capture what you're asking.
I don't know anything about Milley. I don't know what he might want to see happen, but I also don't suspect he has much influence over anything anyway.
But no matter what situation he finds himself in, my strong assumption is that as a career officer in the U.S. military, he would stay within the boundaries of his legitimate authority as a matter of integrity and respect for the Constitution to which he's devoted the last 41 years of his life.

@rway I don't think Milley has to be in there, given his real role. "Chiefs" would actually be a misnomer, wouldn't it?

Should it be "the Sec of Def's watch?" Or a blanket "military establishment's watch?" How would a patriot in the upper echelons of the US Military thwart an Ideological takeover sponsored by hostile foreign powers?

The most fundamental principle of the uniformed services in America, is that they operate fully and solely under Civilian control. i.e., Commander in Chief, SecDef, Secretaries, then... active military commanders.
They answer to Civilian leadership, and the Civilian leadership is supposed to answer to the People. If the politicians are not acting with the true consent of the governed, that's for the governed to fix, not the military.
I don't see a path, nor do I see a purpose, for a military response to any ideological or "political" takeover. Any effective counter-operation, I think, would have to come from within that same ideological battle-space.
Any kinetic or containment operation against "globalist" targets, would probably be impossible to organize and execute. Even if it had broad support within the ranks, it would certainly have broad opposition as well, and the opposition would be right; since any such action would technically be treason against what we're pretending are "duly elected" officials.
Regardless, even if a group of them pulled something like that off, it would only serve to provide fantastic propaganda for globalists to edit/run repeatedly on CNN; and the caption would say:
"see... we told you so, Trump was a dictator and was planning to stay in power through military force regardless of the free and fair election" (which, of course, was neither.)
