A lot of manipulation goes on with statistics under the best circumstances and yes there is always propaganda.
If they are testing for Covid and not the flu which one will they find? Many people may have both. Even if they only have Covid it is likely it killed off a lot of people that would have died indirectly from the flu before the flu season. Died from is always a murker question unless there is severe trauma. Even in the case of trauma "Severe injuries may mask the role of an initial disease attack.". [pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] "In Uusimaa approximately 25 percent (N = 18/73) of deaths at the wheel were caused by a driver's acute disease attack, but only 20 percent were recorded in the official StatFi."
Statistic don't lie but liars use statistics. The value of statistical analysis should never be discounted but using them is more of an art than a science. What is distinctly missing from our culture is a set of rational priorities.

It's likely far less prevalent this year because of the emphasis on social distancing...that's the most obvious explanation anyway. Of course, the far less likely explanation would be a conspiracy theory in which the government is re-defining regular flu cases as Covid-19, that so far as I can tell, nobody has any rational reason to believe.(wink-wink)
Hint...a lot of these conspiracy theories about covid being fake are probably complete bull.

Hint...nobody has said it was fake except for the sheeple who can’t acknowledge there is no scientific basis for any of the responses foisted onto an ignorant population.
