If your in a western country you will have this option, and if new more harmful variants show up which looks to be the case, they will adjust the vaccine accordingly, and life will go on full speed ahead.
If you’re in a country like say the Philippines, the government imposes China's vaccine which is currently only 50% effective and it’s not available, hospitals are over run, no oxygen, no medicines that actually work, no vitamins and a far worse variant spreading like wildfire. If you get a bad case of COVID your basically fucked.

The illusion is thinking the future will always be the same but it never is, its always different.
It depends on where you live, as to what restrictions were and how they were enforced. Here in SoCal it was never prohibited to go outside. Beaches were never actually closed. Most people were fooled by the media on all sorts of restrictions that never actually existed. I was at the beach all the time and outside getting plenty of sun. There were certain token closures of different things but there were a lot of alternatives and people used them.
