I have no idea why drug treatments have not been widely accepted and used.
I cannot understand why such people would work against the used of medicines that would help and lessen the effects of the virus etc... makes no sense to me.
There is no answer to that question as yet.
Cover-up? Avoiding initial guilt?

There is still no treatment protocol for COVID. Anything else, you’re diagnosed, there are recommended treatments. Not for COVID. From the start it’s been “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine.” The assholes at Facebook still slap a “Fact-check” on any mention of Hydroxychlorquine, claiming it’s harmful if used to treat COVID, despite myriad peer-reviewed studies attesting yo its efficacy.
